NEK! officially commenced on February 10, 2024.
The official announcement of the formation of the band was made on the band's X account on February 10, 2024. The founding post, which read: "NEK! バンドはじめました ネキって読みます" (NEK! We started a band! It's pronounced NEKI), was promptly shared by every member.
The band was initiated by Hika. She searched on social media for other female musicians with high technical skills.
Hika, Kanade and Cocoro first met for a jam session. Natsu did not see Hika's message at first. However, Natsu replied promptly and joined the other members for a second jam session.
The name NEK! comes from 姉貴 (aneki), which means 'reliable older sister', and is used to reference a respected person.
The band is composed of Hika (vocals, guitar), Natsu (guitar), Kanade (bass), and Cocoro (drums).
