NEK! is contributing to the November issue of "eggman," the free magazine published by the live house Shibuya eggman.
The band is included in an interview and is featured on the magazine's back cover.
The interview was conducted by 窪田雄紀 (Yuki Kubota), the organizer of the "Girl's Up!!!" shows at Shibuya eggman.

メジャーデビュー前に色んなインタビューを受けたりはしたと思うのですが、実際にメジャーデビュー後のインタビューはこれが初ということで。今の心境はどうでしょうか。
I think you did various interviews before your major debut, but this is actually your first interview after your major debut. How are you feeling right now?

デビュー当日に生配信をしたのですが、ファンの皆さんが私たち以上に喜んでくださって、本当に嬉しかったですね。お祝いコメントも色々もらってそこで実感がすごく湧いたというのはあります。
We did a live stream on the day of our debut, and the fans were even happier than we were, which made me really happy. We received lots of congratulatory comments, and that is when it really started to feel real for me.

もちろん特別な日ではあったんですけど、意外にいつも通りでもありました。いつも通りの楽しい空間で良い意味で普段通りで。このワチャワチャ感がNEK!だよねってコメントをくださっている方々もいて、メジャーデビューしてもちろんレベルアップしなければいけないこともたくさんあるけど、根底の部分は変わらずこのままやっていっていいんだっていう安心感がありました。結成から今までの活動を肯定してもらえたような気持ちでした。
Of course it was a special day, but surprisingly, it also felt like just another day. It was our usual fun atmosphere, and it felt normal in a good way. Some people left comments saying that this lively, "wacha-wacha" feeling is so NEK!. While there are certainly many things we need to level up now that we've had our major debut, I felt a sense of relief knowing that the core of who we are doesn't need to change and that we can keep going exactly as we are. It felt like everything we have done since we formed the band was being validated.

めっちゃ変わったよ。アー写撮影、MV撮影、ライブ。いろんなところでの表情とか表現とか、自分をどう魅せるかというのを常に考えているんだろうなと思います。だからこそとても変わったなと思いました。

ライブの立ち振る舞いですね。私はドラムだからいつもHikaを後ろから見ているんですけどお客さんをどう巻き込むか、どう楽しませるかというのをすごく考えて行動しているんだろうなっていうのを感じます。頼もしいなと思って見てます。
It is her behavior during live shows. Since I am on the drums, I am always watching Hika from behind, but I feel like she acts while thinking deeply about how to get the audience involved and how to entertain them. I watch her thinking she is very reliable.

4人でいる時の空気感というか私たちに心をより開いてくれたというのがすごくわかるようになりました。最初はクールな子なのかなって思っていて。でもこの２年でたくさん胸の内も話すようになってくれて、それがすごく嬉しかったんですよね。
The atmosphere when the four of us are together, or rather, I can really tell that she has opened her heart more to us. At first, I thought she was a reserved girl. But over these two years, she started talking a lot about her inner feelings too, and that made me really happy.

最初そんなに心開いてなかったかな、、、。一番恥ずかしいかも（笑）。

そんなKanadeさんは自分自身が一番変わったと感じるということで。

もう全部変わりましたね。シンプルに大人になりました。自分が出したい色とか自分が何をどうしたいかみたいなところがすごく固まりました。あとは内面的なところなのですが、自分でダメだなって思うところを直せたりしました。
Pretty much everything has changed. Simply put, I became an adult. The kind of "color" I want to bring out, or what I want to do and how I want to do it, those things became very solid. Also, regarding my inner self, I was able to fix the parts of myself that I thought were no good.

この前スタッフさんとも話していたんですけど、ビジュアル面が全く変わっていなくて（笑）。髪色とか髪型の変化はもちろんあるんですけど。小学生の頃から変わってないんですよね（笑）。
I was talking with the staff about this the other day, but my visual aspect hasn't changed at all (laughs). Of course, there are changes in my hair color and hairstyle. But I haven't really changed since I was in elementary school (laughs).
それは大人っぽすぎませんか。
That means you looked really grown-up for your age, right?

小学生の時のあだ名JKでしたからね。女子高生に見えるからって。身長もその頃からほとんど変わってないんです。
Yes, my nickname in elementary school was "JK". They said it was because I looked like a high school girl. My height has barely changed since then either.

Cocoroは精神面の安定もすごくて。だからすごくありがたいです。NEK!を俯瞰して見てくれていて。だからお父さんです（笑）。
Cocoro's mental stability is amazing too. So I am very thankful for that. She watches over NEK! from a bird's-eye view. That is why she is the father (laughs).

みんなが安心できる存在だよね。
She is someone who makes everyone feel secure.
面白い話が聞けてよかったです。ここからメジャーデビュー曲について聞いていきたいと思います。重厚感はありつつも攻撃性という面では今までのNEK!の楽曲よりはマイルドというかポップ色が強いかなと感じました。
I am glad I got to hear some interesting stories. From here, I would like to ask about your major debut song. While it has a heavy feel, in terms of aggressiveness, I felt it is a bit milder, or perhaps has a stronger pop color compared to NEK!'s previous songs.

メジャー１曲目ということもあって、NEK!らしいロックサウンドではありつつも幅広く受け入れてもらえるようにポップな部分も入れ込んだ曲にしたいという想いはありました。よりジャンルレスに。
Since it is our first major label song, while keeping it a rock sound typical of NEK!, we had the desire to make it a song that incorporates pop elements so it can be widely accepted. To make it more genre-less.
そんな部分もあってか歌詞にHikaさんの地元の方言を入れるという試みもありますね。
Perhaps because of that, there is also the attempt to include Hika-san's local dialect in the lyrics.

実はずっと入れてみたかったんですよ。このタイミングがいいなと思って入れさせてもらいました。聞こえ方としてはポップで可愛いマイルドな言葉と捉えるかもしれないですが、意味としては結構強めで。それがこの曲にも合うなと思いました。でもレコーディングは苦労したんです。普段地元で使う言葉だからこそ、それを歌うという感覚が今までなかったから。何回も何回も録り直しました。
Actually, I have always wanted to include it. I thought this was a good timing, so I had them let me include it. Based on how they sound, you might perceive them as pop, cute, and mild words, but their meaning is actually quite strong. I thought that also fits this song. But recording them was a struggle. Exactly because they are words I usually use in my hometown, I never had the feeling of singing them before. I re-recorded it over and over again.
４人それぞれの推しポイントを聞いていこうかなと思います。
I think I will ask about each of the four members' favorite points.
Kanade
私はギターソロの裏が好きですね。NEK!らしい尖りが出ている部分かなと思っていて。この部分ではベースの５弦を使っていてそこで一気に重たさも出て、自分らしさも感じるし、ここのスラップのフレーズが推しポイントです。
I like the backing behind the guitar solo. I think it is a part that shows a sharpness typical of NEK!. I use the 5th string of the bass in this part, and a heaviness comes out all at once there, and I feel my own style in it, so the slap phrase here is my favorite point.
Natsu
私もギターソロが推しポイントですね。NEK!の曲は結構タッピング使ったソロとかが多いんですけど、この曲でも最初から存分に使っていて、フレーズがちょっとずつ上に上がっていって、ハイポジションになって締まるという部分が好きです。テンションが上がります。
The guitar solo is my favorite point too. NEK!'s songs often have solos using tapping and things like that, but we use it fully from the beginning in this song too. I like the part where the phrase gradually goes up, reaches a high position, and then wraps up. It gets me really excited.
Cocoro
２サビ前のブレイクからサビに入るところのフィルがスピード感あってすごく気に入っています。あとはラスサビ前のボーカルとドラムだけになるところが、ユニゾンみたいな感じですごい気持ちよくてやっていて楽しいです。
I really like the drum fill going from the break before the second chorus into the chorus, because it has a sense of speed. Also, the part right before the last chorus where it is just the vocals and drums feels like a unison; it feels great and is fun to play.
Hika
私もそこお気に入りポイントだなぁ。この曲を聴き終えた時にポジティブな気持ちになって欲しいなと思って作った曲なので、そんな部分も感じながら全体を通して楽しんで聴いてもらいたいです。
That is my favorite point too. I made this song hoping people will feel positive when they finish listening to it, so I want people to enjoy listening to it all the way through while feeling those kinds of parts too.
MVの世界観もすごくポップで良い画だなと思いました。四人の素の部分みたいなものも感じるような雰囲気で。
I thought the aesthetic of the MV is also very pop and has great visuals. It has an atmosphere where you can feel the natural, unpolished sides of the four of you.

振付師さんに振りを付けつけてもらったんです。みんなで頑張って覚えて撮影に挑みました。
We had a choreographer create choreography for us. We all worked hard to learn it and took on the video shoot.
Natsu
カメラの前で楽器を弾いたりするのは慣れてきたけど、踊ることなんてないからすごく緊張しました。リハではできても本番ではボロボロだったり（笑）。
I have gotten used to playing instruments in front of a camera, but since we never dance, I was really nervous. Even if I could do it in rehearsal, I would mess up terribly during the actual take (laughs).

リハではできたのになんでだー！ってね。

あとはそれぞれのイメージカットすごい好きです。Cocoroはサングラスかけて水鉄砲やったりとか。

小道具をたくさん用意いただいて、好きなものを選んでくださいって言われたんですよ。

今回のメジャーデビューでNEK!がさらに世の中に浸透するのを楽しみしてます。そしていろんなインタビューでも武道館が目標と言っているのは拝見しているのですが、メジャーデビューのこの節目のタイミングでそれぞれの目標も聞いていこうかなと思います。
With this major debut, I am looking forward to NEK! spreading even further into the world. And I have seen in various interviews that your goal is the Budokan, but at this milestone of your major debut, I think I will ask about each of your individual goals.

アニメの主題歌をやりたいです。NEK!の音楽って絶対アニメに合うと思っていて。テレビから自分たちの音楽が流れるのを想像するだけで嬉しいです。
I want to do an anime theme song. I think NEK!'s music would definitely fit an anime. Just imagining our own music playing from the TV makes me happy.

フェスに出たいですね。よくフェスに行ったりしていたからNEK!でフェスのステージに立ちたいです。
I want to appear at festivals. Since I have been to a lot of festivals, I want to stand on a festival stage with NEK!.
Hika
それは全員共通の目標でもあります。

私もフェスに行ったりしてたからそのステージに実際立ったりしたらもう感動だろうな。

私は地元長崎でのライブがやりたいのと、世界を目指したいです。その中でエッフェル塔の下でライブがしたくて。私は「けいおん！」に憧れてバンドを始めたいと思ったので、その聖地であるエッフェル塔の下でいつかライブがやりたいなって思ってます。
I want to do a live show in my hometown of Nagasaki, and I want to aim for the world. Within that, I want to do a live show under the Eiffel Tower. Because I admired K-On! and wanted to start a band, I want to do a live show someday under the Eiffel Tower, which is a sacred ground for that.
